Conferência do Prof. Andrew Hurrell, da Universidade de Oxford
Breve currículo: Andrew J. Hurrell is Director of the Centre for International Studies at Oxford University and a Fellow of Nuffield College.
His research interests include: theories of international relations, with particular reference to international law and institutions; theories of global governance; the history of thought on international relations and the history of international law; comparative regionalism; and the international relations of the Americas, with particular reference to Brazil. Recent journal articles have covered such topics as international legitimacy; US hegemony; the role of regional and second-tier states; and the international politics of the Global South.
Publications include: co-editor with Louise Fawcett, Regionalism in World Politics (1995); co-editor with Ngaire Woods, Inequality, Globalization and World Politics (1999); co-editor with Rosemary Foot and John Gaddis, Order and Justice in International Relations (2003); and co-author with Monica Hirst, The United States and Brazil: A Long Road of Unmet Expectations (Routledge, 2004). He is currently completing a study of global governance, entitled On Global Order. Power, Values, and the Constitution of International Society, to be published by Oxford University Press. He is also working with Amrita Narlikar on a three-year project funded by the Nuffield Foundation – Pathways to Power: Brazil and India in International Institutions – which provides an in-depth, comparative analysis of the policies and strategies of Brazil and India towards a range of international regimes (WTO, the NPT, the UNSC, and global climate change)
